Character name: Raven Queen
Age: 17
Canon: Ever After High
Canonpoint: Post Dragon Games

Background: Ever After High wiki. I'd like to note I'm following animated canon only, and nothing from the books.

Personality:
Raven was "destined" to be as evil as her mother, but evil is the exact opposite word to describe her. She cares for almost everyone she knows and meets, even her own cruel mother. Feeling that it was unfair for her own life to be chosen for her, she decided to rebel and forge her own future with her own hands. However, she didn't intend for it to have the wide scale effect that it did on her school and on all her friends, causing her to feel guilty about the little fights that followed. She genuinely wants her friends to be happy, even if it means they follow destinies she believes are as unfair as her own. But just because she's full of love and goodness doesn't make her sweet and gentle as a princess.

Since most of her life people assumed she was evil incarnate, she has a hard time socializing as expects people to instantly dislike her based on her reputation. She also has a sarcastic streak, willing to poke fun at what she feels are ridiculous traditions or just flat out bad ideas, even if it would get her into trouble. She's never afraid to speak her mind even if it will get other people angry - she'd rather people be mad at her for her own decisions, than to have gotten their hate from a fairy tale she didn't choose to be part of. But as a result this can sometimes make her feel haughty and superior, as if what she's doing is obviously the right choice and to do so otherwise is foolish. She also carries a hard envious streak of others - for example, she's often jealous of Apple White's beauty. She fights this off as best she can, trying to suppress it and not be like her mother.

When it comes to strategies and planning, she's not a fan of exact rules and regulations. She's the type that welcomes a little chaos and making up things as they go along, as life's more exciting that way. She also doesn't mind the occasional teasing or prank, such as when "Mira Shard" messed up the Gingerbread Man's exercise routine, as long as no one gets seriously hurt. As a result, she may need help in being told when a joke or prank goes too far. She loves animals, and a lot of animals tend to love her right back, especially her 'pet' dragon Nevermore. When it comes to those she truly loves, such as Nevermore, her best friends, and perhaps even Dexter Charming, she lets her guard down and can become extra girly and feminine around them. She's a little unsure of how to handle being loved back, but she desires it all the same. It could easily be argued that it was the big turning point of her decision to rebel - she wanted to be loved instead of feared, as evidenced in the Thronecoming ceremony, when she saw her future as being a hated, lonely outsider and instantly fought against it.

Yet despite all her hard work in trying not to be like her mother, there is a dark side to Raven. She has a serious temper that's difficult to calm down, and her magic often comes out in dangerous ways when this happens. She seems to forget, or even ignore, these consequences when she's angry until it's too late or someone points out what she's doing. For example, when she talked to her mother early on in Dragon Games, her anger bubbled and spewed out, causing violent magic that almost set her mother free. It took Nevermore getting in the way for her to realize what had happened, and she quickly managed to defuse her own anger before it was too late. She also reluctantly enjoys the feel of dark magic, and has been tempted to use it against those who have wronged her. It is often a struggle to fight these impulses she has inherited from her mother.

One thing she inherited from her mother that has actually worked out for the best is her ability to manipulate a situation. Given enough time, Raven can come up with a plan to get things the way she wants them to. She can understand people well enough to predict their reactions, such as in Dragon Games when she used Faybelle Thorn's jealousy to help get a magical item in the hands of her friends to stop the Evil Queen. Even the Evil Queen herself, Raven's mother, has expressed pure joy in seeing how Raven can weave these sort of plans, though Raven was uncomfortable with that praise. It's not as if she enjoys having to manipulate people, but even she knows desperate times call for desperate situations.

All in all, Raven is a young teenager who wants to just be herself, and to enjoy her own life. Despite her mother's constant cruelty and evil, Raven still goes to visit her. Despite Headmaster Grim's underhanded tactics to make her turn evil, she doesn't wish him harm. Despite Apple White trying to sometimes trick Raven into being evil, Raven still considers Apple one of her best friends. She doesn't want to hate anyone, or hurt anyone, or lose what attachments she has. She wants everyone to have their own happily ever after - as long as no one else has to suffer for it.

Wish: “I wish my mother no longer had magic.”

Shortly after the events of the Dragon Games, Raven is approached by the odd-looking  Kyuubey, though a talking animal is hardly weird for her. The idea of being a 'magical girl' makes her sarcastically reply that, technically, she already is one. But just as she's about to walk away and make this just a strange story to tell her friends, Kyuubey asks where she had been before seeing him. The answer is visiting her mother. That's when he mentions the wish.

Raven abruptly pauses, and then asks what he means. Even as common sense tells her this is a bad idea, she can't resist the temptation of freeing the magical world of one of its greatest enemies... and also being with someone she cares about. Raven loves her mother, despite her mother giving her an abusive childhood, corrupting her school and nearly 'killing' her close friend, Apple White. But she also knows that if the Evil Queen ever got out again, she'd do yet another evil plan, and try to corrupt Raven into doing the same. In order to keep her friends and school safe, yet also have a way to be with her mother, Raven decides to take away her mother's magic. That way, she can never hurt anyone else.

However, Raven is being blind to the fact that despite the Evil Queen no longer having magic, she'll still have her same personality, and still be a cruel manipulator, and still want to make Raven follow the exact same destiny. But why should Kyuubey mention any of that? When he grants the wish, he also doesn't mention that the magic has to go SOMEWHERE... and why not into her own daughter's head? Raven has no access to it, but the dark impulses will still be there, tempting her to use her powers for her own selfish desires. As a result, the destiny that Raven has fiercely tried to avoid will now be even harder to resist.

Passive ability:
With the underlining of her wish being she wanted to set her mother 'free', Raven has the ability to escape traps, bindings, anything that can constrict or imprison her much more easily than others.

Active ability:
Since her fairy tale largely revolves around a mirror, which her mother is also trapped in, Raven has magic mirrors as her offensive and defensive attacks. One is a hand mirror, the other summoned two are floating, large vanity mirrors. The hand mirror is used much like a blunt weapon. All three mirrors can 'reflect' attacks back at the opponent, but they have to 'see' the full scope of the attack. For example, if it was a flaming fireball, it can be bounced right back since the whole fireball can be seen in the mirror. However, if it was a sneak attack from behind, she'd be defenseless. In addition, she can will the mirrors to break, and send nasty sharp glass shards to the enemy. However, this ability only works once per fight.

Weapon:
A gold hand mirror with a black reflection, along with the two 'summoned' vanity mirrors.
